History Makers!

Bean Sports' Herd Marches in Inaugural Tournament

What a weekend for Bean Sports Club! On a bright, sun-drenched Sunday morning, six of our most intrepid young players, backed by a fantastic travelling support of parents and friends, made club history by competing in our very first competitive tournament.

The stage was set at the pristine Kent University playing fields for the Herne Bay Youth FC lady Mayoress Summer Tournament. With over 40 talented teams gathered from across the region, the atmosphere was electric, and our squad was ready to make their mark.

This was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of the hard work, dedication, and community spirit that has blossomed every Saturday on our home turf. We want to give a huge, proud shout-out to every member of our trailblazing squad:

A Squad of Heroes:

  • Lemuel: Our captain fantastic! Lemuel led from the front with his trademark flair, driving forward with the ball and working tirelessly in defence. Even from the sidelines, his passionate support and insightful instructions lifted the entire team. A true leader.
  • Eve: What a dynamo! "All-action Eve" was an absolute force of nature all over the pitch. Her never-say-die attitude was infectious, and her performance in goal was simply legendary. With cries of "CHEE HO!", she commanded her area and produced a string of incredible saves to secure a vital clean sheet.
  • Oscaras: Our rock. Playing at the heart of our defence and midfield, Oscaras delivered a masterclass in calm, collected, and disciplined football. Tasked with thwarting attacks and launching our own, he was flawless, contributing to multiple clean sheets with an assurance well beyond his years.
  • Alex: The engine of the team! Alex never stopped running, pressing opponents, and creating space for his teammates. The ground he covered was immense, and he did it all with an infectious smile on his face. A picture of pure effort and enjoyment.
  • Eric: Proof that courage is the ultimate superpower. Often facing players taller in height, Eric showcased immense heart and technical skill. His ability to dribble out of the tightest spots and pick the perfect pass was a joy to watch. A very bright future awaits this one.
  • Louis: The history maker! Louis has forever etched his name in the Bean Sports story by scoring our first-ever competitive goal – and what a fantastic finish it was! His telepathic understanding with his brother, Eric, was instrumental in creating chances, and he showed incredible bravery when taking his turn in goal. A wonderful talent.

More Than Just a Result

So, how did they do? Our herd fought brilliantly, securing a draw, a hard-fought loss, and a fantastic win! This impressive haul of four points meant they narrowly missed out on qualifying for the next round by a single point.

But on the day, the points and placings faded into the background. The real victory was the experience itself. The laughter, the teamwork, the handshakes with our opponents, and the immense pride felt by every coach, parent, and supporter. This is what grassroots football is all about.
